While some water based floor lacquers are single pack and not compatible with oil stains, others are two pack and compatible with oil wood stains. If the floor has to be maintained naturally without a color, then the product can be used without a hardener. But if the customer decides to change the color and a two pack floor lacquer is required, you only have to add some hardener to the new Chimiver Ecostar 2K Floor Lacquer & you are ready to go. Chimiver Ecostar 2K Floor Lacquer – Where to use
The new Carver Epsilon Floor Lacquer is a heavy duty water based floor lacquer compatible with all medium to high traffic wooden floors. It can be used to seal and protect all types of wooden floors, wood furniture, frames, etc. The product will cover up to 14 sq meters per 1L, it will dry in about 2 hours and is ready for recoating within 1 hour. To be applied in at least two coat systems over a primer or over some kind of wood stain. The new Chimiver Ecostar 2K Floor Lacquer is suitable for indoor use only. Chimiver Ecostar 2K Floor Lacquer – How to use it
Remove all pre-existing finishes with a belt sander or a drum sander. Make sure that the wood surface is dry, dust free and sealant free. If you are planning to apply a sealer or some kind of wood stain, you should do it now. Allow about 2-3 hours for the stain or primer to dry and prepare to apply the first coat of lacquer. If the floor was stained with an oil based wood stain, you will need to mix up the floor lacquer with the hardener. Using a small brush, apply the sealer all over the narrow areas where the roller cannot fit. For the larger areas, use a professional varnishing roller. Apply enough lacquer until the whole floor looks wet but not soaked. Allow 1-2 hours to dry. Using 150-180 grit sandpaper, re-sand all the edges and all narrow areas to remove imperfections, excess lacquer and flatten up rough areas. Vacuum well and prepare for the last coat. Apply one more thick coat of floor lacquer going along with the fiber of the wood. Do not walk on the surface until it is fully dry & do not drag heavy furniture on the finish for 24 hours.
Remember to work in well ventilated areas to speed up the drying process and only apply the sealer if the room temperature is above 15C.
